I am proud
of you
guys...keep
your heads
up. It was
a very tough
loss tonight
and hard to
swallow. It
was an honor
this season
to coach
such a great
group such
as
yourselves.
What hurts
more than
the loss is
that we wont
be out there
together
competing
the rest of
the season.
The coaching
staff would
like to
thank you
for all of
your hard
work and the
great
parents we
have that
support this
program. If
I had a
dollar for
every time a
parent from
another team
or our
opposition
comes to our
house and
comments on
how first
class we are
from the
boosters to
the players
wearing the
uniform...I
would be a
very rich
man. This
is a
reflection
on you as
teenagers
growing into
fine young
men.

Mount Si’s

in the first
round of the
KingCo

The Kangs
scored a
goal in
second-half
stoppage
time to
break a 1-1
tie and give
them a 2-1
win which
sent them to
a game
tomorrow
against
Mercer

Baumgardner
scored his
final high

for the

the first
half to tie
things up

after LW

Wildcat boys soccer scores key win at Bellevue
By: Rhett Workman - SVSJ - 05.03.11
Mount Si’s boys soccer team got two goals from Alex Censullo to score a huge 2-0 win on the road Tuesday night over the Bellevue Wolverines which pretty much sealed up a playoff spot for the Wildcats in the KingCo Tournament. Dillon Oord recorded his sixth shutout of the season as Mount Si rebounded from a bad loss last Friday against the Saints. READ ARTICLE

GREAT
GAME!
You came

from the

Every
player
on the

made a
big
contribution
to the
win
tonight.
If we

we would
have won
a lot of
games.
Greg and
I are
very
proud of
the way
you
played
very
nice way

Two very
nice
goals
tonight
Alec
Holt was
great in

again ,
and
finish a
nice
pass
from
Mitch
for the
first
goal.
Mitchel
got the
second

a nice
through

from
Robin
Casillas,
and then
it was

GREAT TEAM
EFFORT
TONIGHT! We
played much
better on
both sides
of the ball
tonight.
2nd half we
made
corrections
and our
service was
not only
better but,
we created
more chances
up top with
Dane and
Kody.
Michael
Blackmon
played well
tonight and
Izzak played
a strong 2nd
half.
Johnny was
solid in the
back and
Davis really
played like
an extra
player on
the field
for us...he
was
everywhere
on the pitch
and his work
rate was top
notch.
Dillon Oord
recorded his
6th shut
out! Dillon
puts himself
in a good
class of
keeper
records...Cody
Tipton with
8 shut outs
in 2008 and
Ryan last
year with
11. I am
real proud
of Dillon
and what he
is bringing
to the team
this
year...BIG
HEART and is
a player you
can really
count on.
Eric gave us
good service
and tempo
and his stat
line showed
for it with
quality
touches.
Nate had a
line tonight
that was
mind
boggling...29-3
plus/minus
ratio. For
a
midfielder,
that is
getting it
done with
the ball.
Kyle played
well on the
outside...liked
his game
tonight.
Alex with 2
goals...that
locks you in
as one of
the POM's
just from
your
finishing
alone but,
loved what
he did
tonight in
the
attacking
third. Dane
and Kody
both were
threats
tonight and
got more
opportunities
which I am
always happy
to see.
They were
knocking all
night and I
am proud of
both
effort.
Good
win...now on

to be a

I thought we
played more
as a unit
tonight
which was
good. Dane
Aldrich
worked his
butt off
tonight on
both sides
of the ball.
Davis
Karaica was
again
sensational...always
shut down
his man and
also got off
three good
looks which
is good to
see coming
from his
position
getting
forward.
Hats off to
Matt Eichler
for getting
his first
varsity goal
and a good
one at that
making a
good run in
the box to
get us on
the board.
Kody
Clearman was
clutch down
the stretch
when we
needed a
finish to
cap off the
night. We
got good
looks
tonight off
the bench
from Brandon
Snyder and
Chace
Carlson
which is
always
positive. I
love to see
that...energy
and smart
play with a
spell is
crucial.
Things to
work on
going
forward to
Friday...outside
mids still
pushing
forward and
making
aggressive
runs to the
box. Always
remember.....we
open
offensively...the
touch line
and you
should be
good friends
and this is
where it
starts...find
that lane
and it will
open the
field of
play (it
starts
here).
Defensively,
when we
regain
possession
we have to
get forward
a lot
quicker out
of the
defensive
third with
pace...when
we push from
here with a
15-20 yard
sprint then
we can not
only get in
on the play
for support
but, this
will also
make there
attack
collapse.
When we sit,
this creates
20-25 yards
of space for
the
opposition
midfield or
post-forward
to get in
and
re-start.
This comes
from the
backline
pushing the
attack
forward
(defensive
backs and
central D
position). 1
down...3 to
go. Lets
keep pace
with our
goals...25%
completed/accomplished.

Tonight we
let one slip
away...we
have to get
more direct
and this has
to happen.
We played
east to west
all night
without
getting the
ball forward
and our runs
off the ball
were absent
as well as
our service
which was
non-existent.
We have to
play more as
a team and
not as
individuals
for us to
get the
results we
are looking
for.
Communication
has to be
from
everyone on
the pitch
and again
its the
small
things...turn,
dropping a
ball at a 45
and then
showing off
the ball,
finding the
space and
then
attacking
the area in
the
attacking
third. When
this is
clicking, we
are very
difficult to
beat but,
when we do
not create
enough....a
result like
tonight can
happen when
we are not
applying
pressure.
This happens
on and off
the ball.
Monday we
are going to
create team
goals for
the final 4
games of the
regular
season...everyone
is
accountable
for each
other. Lets
create the
momentum we
are
searching
for going
forward.

we got away

I appreciate
the heart

our all

decisions
needed to be

execution.
Our service
was mediocre
at best and
that is not
good enough

the

We need to
play to our

not used
enough
throughout
the course

We played

we had a lot
of good

from all.
We can work
up the flank
more out of
the back if
we
communicate
more which
is something

work on.
Miller was a
breath of
fresh air
tonight....a
veteran

when checked
on. Dillon
Oord records

now...way to

Three guys
stood out to
me
tonight....Alex
Censullo.....2
goals and
attacked the
box tonight
with
precision.....really
applied
tonight what
we have been
working on
in
training.
Eric
Baumgardner
was not
great
tonight.....he
was spot
on. Really
what we have
needed up
front and
that is a
target
playing
under
control to
set the
tempo up
top. I
like the
combinations
between
himself and
Kody which
really gives
us something
to work
with. Dane
was
exceptional
on the
outside....spreading
the field
and giving
us pace
throughout
the match.
He as well
attacked
nicely and
got two
points out
of this
evening.
Men......when
we play like
this, we are
going to get
results.
Its the
little
things that
matter......getting
forward and
creating
high
pressure
which allows
us to
maintain
possession
in the
attacking
third. Have
a great

job tonight.

Five things to watch in boys soccer
By: Seattle Times
From high-scoring Shorecrest senior Glenn Paden to five nationally ranked teams, here are six things to watch during the boys soccer season this spring.
Mount Si moves on without goalkeeper
When a team has a top-tier talent guarding the goal, it sparks confidence among the 10 other players on the pitch. With Ryan Herman in goal last season for Mount Si, that confidence was clear. The athletic 6-foot-7 presence helped get the Wildcats to the quarterfinals. This season, though, Herman's commitment to the Seattle Sounders FC Youth Academy and his preparations for a collegiate career at Santa Clara made him unable to play his senior year of high-school soccer.
"It's huge," Mount Si coach Darren Brown said. "It changes our dimensions. We have good field players, but Ryan is amazing. It changes everything." Stepping in for Herman this season is senior Dillon Oord, who has admirably filled those big shoes.
"He's a good kid and a really good keeper," Brown said. "I tell him that all the time. He would have been with us this year with Ryan or without Ryan. ... I would have played him, because he's good. Playing in the shoes of Ryan, that's a lot to step into, and he's handling it really well." read article
Athletes of the Week for 4-6
By: Rhett Workman - SVSJ
MOUNT S - We roll onto the pitch for this one, and hand it out to boys’ soccer sophomore Dane Aldrich, who scored three goals this past week – two last Tuesday in a Wildcat win over LW, and another one last Friday in a Mount Si win over Juanita. His huge week now has him among the league leaders in scoring, with four goals. Dane is not the only Aldrich family member making noise this spring; his older brother Derek, a 2006 Mount Si grad, is the starting left fielder for the NCAA D-III George Fox Bruins college baseball team down in Newberg, OR, and he is having a good season as well. read article

Former boys’

Bardsley has

Bardsley had

This
opportunity,
though, for
Bardsley,
will allow
him to keep

if he does
well, there
is a good
chance an
MLS side may
sign him, as

Mount Si’s

what fans

some numbers

tie with
Bellevue at
3-2 in

Mount Si is

they boast
three of the

the league.
Sophomore
Dane Aldrich

goals with
four, while
senior Eric
Baumgardner
has two
goals and
four assists
on the

sophomore
Kody

Mount Si is
second in
the league
offensively
(goals for),
while senior
Dillon Oord
is getting
it done in
goal, with
three
shut-outs to
his credit.
He and
sophomore

getting his
first full
half in at
the varsity
stage and
came up with
a couple
nice saves
this
evening.
Great to
see. Davis
again played
a great
match.....game
in....game
out.....Davis
delivers and
plays his
position so
well. I
appreciate
the way he
reads the
game and
gets himself
into
position
defensively
while
creating
opportunities
up front.
Johnny,
Nate, and
Kyle really
stood out to
me tonight.
Johnny is so
strong in
the back and
got himself
in the
scoring
column when
we needed a
goal from
many chances
in the first
half which
we could not
execute.
Nate played
the outside
diamond 4
well and
Kyle really
attacked the
box well.
Good game
tonight
boys......one
more game
during the
break and
then on to
MI. Lets
keep this
momentum
going....seeing
some good
things
starting to
come
together.

Mount
Si’s
boys
soccer
team is
back on
track
after a
great
week, a
week
which
wrapped
up with
another
big win
last
night.
Coming
off a
win
Tuesday
night
that saw
the
Wildcats
score
their
most
goals as
a team
since
last
spring’s
state
playoff
game,
Mount Si
picked
up right
where
they
left off
and
scored
another
big win
using
strong
offense
to do
the
trick.
Four
different
players
scored
goals as
the
Wildcats
dominated
from
start to
finish
in a 4-0
win over
the
Juanita
Rebels.
Eric
Baumgardner,
Dane
Aldrich,
Johnny
Cramer
and Kody
Clearman
all
scored
goals as
Mount Si
controlled
possession
for
almost
90% of
the
contest.
“Good
week.
Kind of
week we
needed,”
said
Mount Si
coach
Darren
Brown.
“It was
good to
put a
lot of
numbers
up, but
the one
thing
that
made me
really
proud
was the
distribution
across
the
board,”
the
coach
added,
referring
to the
fact
that
over the
course
of the
two
games
during
this
week,
last
night’s
win and
the 5-0
win over
Lake
Washington
Tuesday,
seven
different
players
scored
goals
during
that
span.

Mount Si soccer ends the week on a positive note
March 30, 2011 By Sebastian Moraga - SnoValleyStar.com
First, there was the exquisite goal by Aaron Baumgardner, assisted by his brother Eric. Then, there was the rival, a tough Sammamish squad that struggled to stop the Wildcat wingers. Then, there was the fact that three days earlier, March 22, these very Wildcats had lost to Liberty, 3-1, in Renton. Add all of that up and the score of the game against the Totems March 25 is almost incidental. Yes, the Wildcats lost to the Totems, 2-1, in Bellevue, but the team closed the week in an upswing, something almost unthinkable after the ugly Liberty loss. That night, in Renton, Sammamish loomed large, as if its towering defenders planned to play with one atop the shoulders of another. But March 25, the Totems could only score via set plays, a header off a free kick in the third minute and another header off a corner kick in the 59th. The rest had a decidedly Valley feel, as much as the pesky rain that fell upon the Totems’ field. Read Article

"We executed
tonight and
thought we
played
well. We
got more
direct and
the results
to show for
it. Really
happy to see
distribution
from
everywhere
this
evening.
Thought the
boys looked
good and I
am proud for
their
effort. Too
many players
to name
tonight to
name that
looked well
as everyone
really had a
good game.
Kyle Bauman
was strong,
Morgan Popp
played well,
Dane Aldrich
and Kody
Clearman
created good
chances up
top, Eric
was solid,
Johnny,
Aaron, and
Izzak were
fluid,
Dillon was
top notch,
and Alex
Censullo
really
applied his
strengths to
the pitch
for quality
looks and
penetration.
Nate held
possession
real well
and made
smart
decisions.
Close call
on player of
the match
but, I would
give the nod
tonight to
Dane Aldrich
and Davis
Karaica. I
appreciated
how Dane
responded
with two
fine goals
after
missing that
one in the
49th
minute. 7
minutes
later he
knocked in
two, which
is just
gritty will
and straight
toughness.
Electric
determination
goes along
way. Davis
locked down
Taylor
tonight and
was really
flawless.
He took his
assignment
with ease
and got
himself
involved in
the
attacking
third as
well. I
love that!
Great job
tonight

6 WIN 5-0:
Team
good to
get our
first
win.
When we
were 1-0
at the
half I
was not
very
happy
with are
play.
You did
much
better
in the
second
half,
and
finished
strong.
Team
that’s
how you
need to
play
from the
start.
When Ben
scored
that
first
goal I
think we
got
tunnel
vision,
and
everyone
just
wanted a
goal. We
need to
continue
to keep
possession,
work the
ball
outside,
and we
started
to do
that late
in the
second
half,
and it
paid
off, and
scored 5
goals
Lets
keep
this
going.
Great
Job
tonight.

solid and
will be

We gave up
some easy
opportunities
tonight that
were
preventable
and should
not have
happened.
We still
need to play

in the

When I

I new we

I was
very
disappointed
in a lot
of you
tonight,
thirteen
minuets
in the
game we
were
down 3-0
luckily
we only
lost
4-0.
Team we
have

tonight
you

this is
the best
we have
seen you
play so
far. We
still
need to

we

tonight,

we work

a lot of

last

we Were
going to

trashed,
because
they
were

you guys

"We did not
execute
tonight and
it showed.
Our shape
was not good
defensively
and
offensively
we could not
open up
tonight. We
are a much
better team
than what
the score
indicated
but, that is
what
pre-season
is all
about. A
part of our
problem this
evening was
not being
direct in
the
attacking
third. We
tried to
connect too
many balls
in tight
spaces in
which
Eastlake
could regain
possession
and
counter.
However, I
would rather
this happen
now then
later.

"Like I told
the boys in
the

win would
have been
great but,
the final
score was
not the
objective
going in as
much as an
indicator to
what our

and points
of emphasis
for our
training.
That is what
pre-season
matches are
all about.
I was happy
with a lot
of things
tonight.
Our
possession
game will be
up from last
year as well
as keeping
our shape.
I think we
need more
work on our
defensive
sets and
corners as
well as
finishing.
I thought
many players
shined
today. Eric
and Davis
were top
notch and
stood
out.....Alex
Censullo
just has a
great pace
to his game
and is a
dangerous
threat on
the
outside.
Nate Popp
had a very
solid
performance
as well
today. The
combination
of Dane,
Kody, and
Chace up top
will provide
us with some
good results
for the

Mount Si’s boys soccer program is getting ready for what hopefully will be another dream season. The Wildcats, coached by Darren Brown, who is in his seventh year this spring with Mount Si, are coming off a stellar 12-2-4 run which saw them win the KingCo championship for the first time and win their first ever state playoff game.
Many of the team’s top players have returned this season, led by senior Eric Baumgardner, who has signed with Humboldt State. Junior Davis Karaica, Dane Aldrich and seniors Michael Blackmon and Kyle Bauman also are among the top returners for a team which looks to be a bit different this season, according to Brown. “We’re a different dimensional team,” he said. “Last year we were strong and physical.” He continued, “We’re better than last year in the aspect that were a possession oriented team,” adding, “We have guys with a great first touch.” read article
